Australia’s transition from fossil fuels will reshape regional economies, industries and communities. Drawing on consultations with researchers, practitioners, First Nations advocates and policy experts, this report explores three key themes shaping the transition: regional governance, equity, and community ownership and participation. It highlights that managing the transition is not only an economic or technological challenge, but an institutional and social one. The policy choices made now will be critical to how benefits and costs are shared, and to building lasting regional outcomes and public trust.
