Developed by Dr Jo Orlando as part of her APPI Policy Fellowship, Effective screen use in NSW schools: A Panoramic Framework for intentional technology decisions introduces a practical framework to help NSW education policymakers and schools decide when, where and how technology can support learning. Responding to the NSW Government’s announcement to limit screen use in schools, the report draws on Australian and international research, media analysis and interviews with NSW Department of Education representatives to support more coherent and consistent technology decisions that balance learning outcomes, student wellbeing and preparation for a digital and AI future.
