Background
The Higher Education Standards Panel (HESP) is an independent statutory body. Responsibilities include providing expert advice and recommendations on matters relating to the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.
The Threshold Standards is an instrument made under the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act) that set the minimum standards that higher education providers must meet to operate in Australia as higher education providers. The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) use the Threshold Standards to regulate higher education providers and courses.
